How Does The Membership Work?

Becoming a member is simple. Choose from our paying membership tiers, each offering unique perks and benefits. Your membership fee of $5 or $10 monthly USD (or equivalent in your currency) goes directly towards funding literacy programs, ensuring your love for reading translates into tangible support.

Why Join Our Community?

The Jane Austen Literacy Foundation was founded by Caroline Jane Knight, the fifth great niece of Jane Austen and the last of Jane’s nieces to grow up at Chawton House, on her family’s ancestral estate where Jane herself lived and wrote. Caroline set out with the mission of continuing Jane’s legacy by supporting literacy efforts across the world. Now, we invite you to become a part of the legacy by joining our community.

📖 Ignite Your Love of Reading: Our community activities encourage us all to read more. You will be inspired to read with our monthly Reading Challenges and participation in our Community Book Club, and you will be encouraged to read regularly with our weekly Time to Read sessions LIVE on social media. We will inspire each other with our favourite fiction and non-fiction reads and learn from conversations with experienced authors and writers.

What books will we be reading?

Our book selections span a variety of genres, always including Jane Austen classics and other books that inspire. Expect an exciting mix of both fiction and non-fiction, contemporary and historical that encourage meaningful discussions. Join the community to have a vote in what we read each month.

How often do we meet?

This is an online space that is always open. We invite you to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

We will be hosting virtual events through the month. These gatherings provide the perfect platform for vibrant discussions, enabling you to connect with fellow members around the world. Most events will be available afterward through a recording.

Can I make additional contributions?

Absolutely!  While membership directly supports our cause, you can also make additional donations to amplify our impact.  100% of donations received by the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation is spent on literacy programs and activities.

Do I need to be an Austen expert?

Not at all! Our community welcomes readers of all levels and genres. Whether you're a devoted Austen fan or new to her works, you'll find enriching conversations and a warm community awaiting you.

Can I stop at any time?

Yes. You can start and stop your membership at any time. Although, we would be sad to see you go.
